We were mandated by the CSRS (Commission Scolaire de la Région-de-Sherbrooke) to give new life to a sculpture located in front of their offices. Constructed in 2000 by the sculptor Clôde Beaupré, those columns are certainly interesting and unusual. Our goal was to get the passerby to be intrigued by the space and walk around it. With that in mind, words related to education were pained on the sculpture; they would give a trompe-l’oeil feeling since they are painted on two sides of the column, the word seeming warped from all angles except one. Each pillar has a school supply painted on it: paper clip, push-pin, pencil, post-it and eraser.
